C3 testing in August:
We wish our Covered Bridge 'C3
Candidates' the best of luck at their testing at Spring Run on the weekend of
August 12. This is now a national
level testing and the girls are working hard to be prepared.
We have nine candidates: Kristen Bednarski, Rachel Medinger, Emma
Pridham, Emily Moscoe, Jesse Rockhold, Olivia Ford, Kelsey Harja, Natalie Hargis
and Madeline Hundley.
Guidelines
for C Level Testings:
C1
- You and your horse should be either preparing for or already competing at
Beginner Novice Level at Horse Trials or at Rally.
You need to be able to jump a 2'9 course with confidence, ride in the
open at a speed of 350 mpm (a medium canter), and apply a shipping bandage.
Your Maintenance Record Book must be completed with at least 6 months of
information plus the yearly shots/ tests/etc. info. Costs in each expense category need to be totaled.
C2
- You and
your horse should be currently riding at the Novice Level either at Rally or at
Horse Trials. You need to be able
to jump a 3'0 course confidently, ride without stirrups at all gaits, longe a
horse and be able to apply both shipping and stable bandages. A written outline for a 6-8 week feeding and conditioning
program for any specific competition is required, plus you need to assist in
supervised, unmounted instructional sessions for ‘D’s – Rally Camp counts
toward this requirement. Record
Book must cover 9 months plus the yearly shots/ tests/etc. info.
*FYI
– You must be at C2 level by the time of MidSouth Regional Rally to be
eligible for
National
Championships at the Novice and Training Level.
C3
- This is a
national testing that has its own examiners and is scheduled as the need arises
at various locations throughout the country.
This level requires jumping at a height of 3'3 and the ability to ride at
the Training Level on the flat and cross-country.
Record Book must cover a year. You
must be 13 years old as of January 1 in the year of the test.
Call your DC no later than December if you would like to test in
the coming year - she has to apply for dates early in the year if it is to be
scheduled here in Louisville.
If
your horse is not capable of moving up, you may borrow a horse for these
testings - your rating is determined by your
knowledge and abilities, not your horse's limitations. If
you have already competed at Beginner Novice or above in Horse Trials, you
should test up to a ‘C’ level in order to attend Eventing Rally.
Sign up for testings with your DC - they will not be scheduled otherwise.

CBPC web site, covered.ponyclub.org. Outlines are in your Quiz binder or contact Peggi if you need
another copy.
